Wall Outside Collins Tower Entrance

Work on the Collins Wall has been temporarily haltedas advice needs to be sought from a structural engineer. As you can all see, the the outer brickwork have been removed, however a large concrete inner wall is still in situ, which is reinforced with steel that may be attached to beams below ground. The deconstruction is not as straightforward as first thought as vibrations in dismantling could affect the structure below, therefore Hackney Council are liaising with Barratts for advice.

An Update from Hackney Council:

We are proposing to recommence works to the wall on Monday 17th Nov 2014. The reduction of the concrete wall will be a noisy operation and is expected to take two days. I will keep you updated on when the remainder of the works is to be carried out.

The mention of 'the remainder of the works' refers to the fitting of a railing which will be fitted to the top of the reduced wall, but which is still in fabrication. When we hear back regarding this we will of course pass this information on.
