Hi,
I've received a letter from Hackney council regarding the development of 514-600 Kingsland Rd.
Does any body have further details on what is proposed? Apparently the application can be viewed at the hackney service centre. I can't find anything online as regards the exact proposal (other than mention of buildings of 7/10/18 & 19 storeys). As neighbours we have all been invited to provide feedback by 23 October 2013.
Thanks Kevin

Oh my word! That is quite a development. In case no one has looked to see what is involved this is the stretch of Kingland that runs the full length of Dalston Square: From and including the noodle bar at the junction of Dalston Lane right through to and including the Oxfam shop at the junction of Forest Road.

well, i'd be very surprised if they're going to tear them all down!

Let's hope not. Had a quick look at the DAAP (Hackney Council's Dalston Area Action Plan) and this strip of shops is not included. Hopefully that will offer the properties some protection. Only time will tell. Would be useful if someone could find the time to go look at the plans and report back. Would do it myself but I am currently abroad and will not be back until after the closing date mentioned. Anyone?

also, if i'm correct (though) not sure the land isn't owned by one individual (unlike the land where we live on or the dalston lane strip) and contains many listed buildings. but it is interesting to find out what's going on.

My my I don't know what this is about! ...But if they are planning to build on Kingsland Road next to the Station and Railway line where the old shops are, that does suprise me it will steal all the light from the west facing apartments!. Then again, perhaps nothing comes as a surprise in Dalston as it is a development area. However before I pass comment I would like to see the detailed plans if someone can extract them. Are they not available on line from Hackney Council?

Thanks KA for the heads-up on this.
I guess that you got the letter for being one of the residents in the nearby blocks of the Square.
How come others (like me) didn’t get such letter from Hackney Council?

aha, it's this one. I spotted it sometime ago while looking for new applications around the square (a sad hobby I know). the development it mentions is us! it would be a first, half a high street with several listed victorian and georgian shops torn down. and indeed Mark, the Dalston Action plan is quite clear about which sites it intends to develop.

I did think part of what was being mentioned had been done e.g the bridge on forest rd. Hopefully panic over although seems strange there's a consultation period until 23 October....
I have an appointment next Monday at 10am so will update with my findings.

On second thoughts, it is probably the application for the car spaces under phase 3. Barratt told me they are waiting on hackney council for the green light.
Doh indeed it appears!

Agreed Kevin, probably the parking but would be cool if you can check anyway.
Also glad you have an appointment: Resident James called in a couple of days ago and was refused access as he did not have an appointment. Needless to say he was not amused.

Pleased to confirm it is just the parking under phase 3. Sorry to have set a few alarm bells ringing! Thanks Kevin
