'The Dalston Square Collective'

Dear all,

There are quite a few people living on Dalston Square, myself included, who are offering professional services on a freelance basis. But, as freelancers, we can often lack the time, backing, infrastructure, or finance, to start big advertising campaigns etc. to draw new clients. Currently offered in the Square, I am aware of massage therapy, reflexology, pop-up dining, hairdressing, life coaching sessions, accountancy and child-minding. My idea is to form 'The Dalston Square Collective', an organisation that can offer/will include:

• A support network for each other
• Shared and more powerful advertising
• Creating a viable service swop (no money involved) for members such as accountancy for a life coaching session for example
• Organising events such as 'taster days' of a variety of our services in the summer outside in Dalston Square and in the cafe in the winter to further promote our services
• Shared expertise and costs for accountancy and such like
• Back up services for each other if someone is unwell or away
• Bi-monthly meetings in our homes to communicate and further the collective in a number of ways
• To create media attention which will add value to our reputation and personal portfolios
• To be increasingly aware of each other and how we can support each other
• To come together in a recession savvy way
• Joint brochures and a joint free website
• Sub section of the collective offering (no money involved) skills swap for anyone on the square

Dear all, as per swopping skills in the collective, I can offer any of the skills as pr my websites - www.maisiepoppins.com and www.maisiemassage.co.uk for doogy day care. I start my new job as a Hackney Childminder working from home starting Tommorow full time long term. We love our dog Millie very much but have just been told that OFSTED regs prevent her from being at home while other children are here (my 1 year old and her get on fine). She needs to be picked up and dropped off from my home in Dalston Square, kids arrive at 8.30am (we are up at 6.30am) and kids are picked up at 6pm so before and after those times is best. She is a great little dog, details below -

•Breed - Small Staffie
•Colour - Brindle
•Microchipped
•Spayed
•All jabs etc up todate
•All flea and worm prevention up to date
•Has had kennel cough injection for group fun with dogs
•Has no agression issues
•Rarely barks
•Is house trained
•is 1 year 11 months old
•Is highly active
•Is highly loving and affectionate
•Is fully insured with John Lewis Pet insurance
•Needs some training continued - coming back on command quicker and not jumping up in excitement and not eating crap off the ground lol

I dont have much money but I can offer an exchange - Holisitc Massage Therapy, Project/Programme Management/Life Coaching and childcare expertise for children with behaviour or emotional problems, I am OFSTED approved and highly expereinced. Is it allowed to open up your home as a day nursery, given that we live in a block of flats with poor sound istulation?

Hi bob, thank you for your concern however i can assure you i am not opening up a day nursery, i am an ofsted approved childminder in partnership with the London borough of hackney. This means you are very carefully assessed to make sure you can look after children well so there is unlikely to be lots of noise and it also means the numbers of children in school hours are max 3 so you don't need to worry. There is lots of info on childminding law etc on the internet should you wish to understand more. A day nursery can have approx 40-60 children so is a very different service.

Hi All,

Recently I viewed a room for rent in one of the apartments in Dalston Square and I absolutely fell in love with it! Alas, the room has gone and all I am left with is a strong urge to take up home in Dalston Square!

I was wondering if anyone had a room to rent in their flat? Or knew how I could find this out?

Any help much appreciated
